Quickstart

This guide adds your first Vender component to a GitLab pipeline in under five minutes.

Add a component

Open your project's .gitlab-ci.yml and add an include block that references a component from your Vender registry:

  - component: $CI_SERVER_FQDN/arrcade/components/golang@1.0.0
    inputs:
      go-version: "1.22"
      run-tests: true

stages:
  - build
  - test

That is it — the golang component contributes a build and test job automatically.

Verify the pipeline

Commit the change and watch the pipeline run. You should see the jobs the component injected:

• golang:build compiles your module
• golang:test runs go test ./...

Pin your versions

Always pin a component to a specific version tag. This keeps your pipelines reproducible and offline-safe.

# Good — pinned and reproducible
- component: $CI_SERVER_FQDN/arrcade/components/golang@1.0.0

# Avoid — floats with upstream changes
- component: $CI_SERVER_FQDN/arrcade/components/golang@main
